Hibiscus sinensis red

A symbol of the tropics. This familiar flower is found all over the tropics and has been hybridised into a multitude of flowers. Apart from their ornamental use, the petals have been used in shoe polish. They are visited by a few of the larger swallowtails in the butterfly house.
