Butterflies - Mid Wales

One of the most widely distributed butterflies in the world. The Painted Lady is found in most parts of the world. As this species cannot tolerate frosts, all of the ones seen in Wales are migrants and have come up from the continent and Africa. They do however lay eggs on thistles and breed here.
